After two decades of starting, leading or operating nine different real estate offices, with over 2,000 combined agents, plus building two large sales teams with super high per-agent productivity, as well as leading a regional division that oversaw the performance of 28 offices, and 5,000 combined agents, TRUST ME, I know exactly what all this feels like! 


Like for most leaders in the industry, I was beating my head against the wall over this challenge for years. Ironically, it wasn’t until I stepped away from day-to-day leadership in the industry, and spent 18 months pouring through research and analysis of the issue, exploring case-studies both within and outside of the industry, and going deep into mastering the implementation of performance psychology, that it finally all made sense.

Here’s what I found:

It’s not your training calendar and offerings that are the problem – The truth is, the real estate industry has some of the most robust and powerful training curriculums of any industry in the world, spending billions and billions of dollars in annual education expenditures.

No, the problem isn’t the quality of the training… the problem is that the training is being utilized without the agents first having the proper development and internalization into the critical habits, mindsets and behaviors of high performance.

In other words, most offices are trying to build the Taj Mahal on a rocky, uneven and overly sparse foundation. At the end of the day, you can utilize the most expensive and cutting-edge resources and tools, yet it’ll never stand on its own.

Finally… I cracked the code on how to solve the foundational issue. When I observed the very highest level of performers, both within and outside of the industry, they all shared Eight Key Principles & Behaviors, and that’s what separates them from mediocre performers.
